Pattaya Festival - Events

The enjoyable and lively Pattaya Wan Lai Festival or Songkran Flowing Day (Thai New Year) is best known for its uncontrolled and unlimited public water-throwing traditions, where everyone becomes soaking legally.

The fertile lands of the nearby provinces make for a pleasant fruit festival held in May.

The progressively popular Pattaya Marathon is held yearly in July in 3 categories: Full Marathon (42.195 kilometres) Half Marathon (21.10 kilometres) and Quarter Marathon (10.55 kilometres) and is open to everyone.

An outstanding event is the yearly Buffalo Races which is held in October at Chonburi, located 40 kilometres north of Pattaya.

In November, there are full of festivals in Pattaya including beauty contests, floral floats, market stalls, sporting events, and a plethora of carnival-like activities, exhibitions, cultural performances, plus a spectacular display of fireworks on the beach.

The Loy Krathong Festival will be celebrated throughout Thailand on the full moon night in November. Thai people and tourists will pay respect to nature by floating banana-leaf "krathong" on the rivers and sea.
